1999-05-04Sea Fury

Visitors to the hangar will be able to see three of the largest elements of the Hawker Sea Fury sitting very close together on the 'fixin' side of the barriers. This is no accident, and signifies the approach of the time when the machine will begin to look like an aeroplane again.

The main cockpit area, the rear fuselage and the wing centre section have each been painstakingly rebuilt over a lengthy period by a single TFC engineer and a number of volunteers. The result is impressive. First move will be to locate the cockpit section on top of the wing centre section and to make all the necessary connections and to insert all the retaining bolts.

The rear fuselage can then be added to the assembly and, with the tail sections, undercarriage and forward fuselage all waiting in the wings (no - not literally), it really won't be too long before the distinctive Fury shape will be seen once again in the TFC T2 hangar.
