2001-01-27P-51C Mustang Update

Currently, the Mustang fuselage is being rewired and the hydraulic system re-plumbed. A large amount of original early Mustang spares have been located in the US and are now winging their way to the hanger courtesy of Federal Express.

We have been very fortunate that our friends in the US have also loaned us pattern parts from their own aircraft to help us, we are particularly indebted to Steve Hinton and Matt Nightingale for loaning us parts from the Planes of Fame's P-51A Mustang and to John Paul of Idaho for the loan of parts from his project P-51B...thanks guys.

To try and give you some idea of the lengths we have gone to in returning the aeroplane to stock C model configuration, see the photograph of the undercarriage uplock hooks taken from the Planes of Fame P-51A and the North American micro film drawing of the same part which we are currently manufacturing.

The hooks fitted to our aircraft where taken from a D model and missing the safety hook. The cockpit is nearing completion with just the instrument panel, gunsight and fixture to fit. We where lucky enough to find a new surplus N3b reflector sight at Jay Wislers Warbird Parts.
