  • Bearcat in France and Friends of TFC news

Confirmation that the  Bearcat is at La Ferte via GregP__15F9

Some news  for Friends of TFC.  After a number of  very late  nights we are nearly ready to change over the  way your subscriptions and access to FofTFC pages work.  This might seem like a simple task it isn’t!    We will try and take  this in stages but we are aeroplane  people not   computer people!  In the meantime their is  some  helpful  news about paypal subscriptions on the FofTFC main page  you  may  find useful.

  • So you want to fly a Mustang ?

    Don’t we  all!

The team from virtual-aerobatics.com    will  be  on hand  over the week end in Hangar 2 at  Duxford to provide demonstrations and “have a go”  sessions on DCS  Flight  Simulation software including the P-51 , all in view of   TF-51,  Miss Velma.

So why  not try  your  hand or  have a  go with the  BAE Hawk and Mig 21   simulations which are also available over the  week end.

Friends of TFC will  also be available to  talk about old aeroplanes and will  have a few give aways as well as the usual merchandise.

  • Engine Runs

Aeroplanes  are proving more reliable than our web server at present.  We had  hoped to  bring some real  time updates but suffice to say the  Bearcat/Wildcat and Harvard all had engine runs today.  Sorry no pictures today as  photographer had the day off!

  • Back to aeroplanes then

Today we  had a  visit from Chip Hailey.  the son of 1st Lt David R Hailey who was part of the 338th FS, 55th FG who flew P-38’s and then converted to the P-51.  Lt David R Hailey flew as wingman to Capt Frank Birtciel, who flew the original Miss Velma.  Chip  had  some  fantastic  stories and memories.  He is   holding his  fathers  flying helmet  while  standing in front of our  Miss Velma.  (Chip still  visits   Velma!).
