  • Another Sunny Day in July

‘Hot off the press’ – CAA Surveyor has issued the full Permit to Fly for G-CIIO which now makes it officially the one and only certified P-40C in Europe…..

Grateful thanks to Mike and Neil (and all at GA Unit), not forgetting Dave and John at ACRO Aeronautical Services for making this possible.

Oh and  we  flew a few aircraft with the Corsair up a couple of times – Keith Skilling at the  helm, the P36C made it’s first UK flight  and the Mustang was also up. The Harvard was busy with crew currency flights in between.

  • A Busy Sunday – the video

We ran the moving picture  cameras while the aeroplanes  ventured into the  sunlight on Sunday and caught a  few engine runs  (we have  cheated and included the  Kestrel engine in the Nimrod from earlier in the week as well as),   Spitfire   and Wildcat  but we  didn’t think that would  be a  problem.

  • Engine Runs this week

First off the Harvard had a successful check on the newly fitted carburettor, next it awaits a pilot to do the check flight:

Today, Weds the Gladiator was fuelled ready for an engine run up:

  • 25th March Aicraft News Update

On a somewhat Arctic Sunday a few volunteers and TFC staff were in at Hangar number 2, at the same time we were able to catch up on the latest news on aircraft in the hangar from Martin.

First is that the Hawk successfully completed an air test in preparation for a flight to La Breguet towards the end of this coming week – weather conditions allowing. The Harvard engine run identified a problem which will require a replacement carburettor while the P-47 had a successful test on new parts in the fuel system.

This coming week should also see the P-40b undergoing engine runs while the Spitfire Mk- XIV is partway through its annual inspection.

  • March update

Well you spend a few weeks planning something for the website and then the weather doesn’t play ball. We promised something for today so please watch the video for an update on aeroplanes and news about our brand new Friends of TFC clothing – more on this later.

We are also glad to say our latest Fighter Log has escaped to the Post Office along with our 2013 calendar – so if you are bored with that existing calendar on your wall now is the ideal time to change!
