  • Hellcat Engine Run

That was  the plan anyway  -Hellcat  has  just been out onto airfield and then the  rains  came….and no that  doesn’t  mean it  will be flying at the  display this week end!

Spitfire Mk Vb and Hawk 75  have also  been out  for engine  run ups, pictures  may well  follow.

  • 25th March Aicraft News Update

On a somewhat Arctic Sunday a few volunteers and TFC staff were in at Hangar number 2, at the same time we were able to catch up on the latest news on aircraft in the hangar from Martin.

First is that the Hawk successfully completed an air test in preparation for a flight to La Breguet towards the end of this coming week – weather conditions allowing. The Harvard engine run identified a problem which will require a replacement carburettor while the P-47 had a successful test on new parts in the fuel system.

This coming week should also see the P-40b undergoing engine runs while the Spitfire Mk- XIV is partway through its annual inspection.

  • First Flight of the Spring – Hawk 75

Sorry  no  pictures  but  reports from the hangar say that the  Hawk 75  had a successful  test flight  just  after  lunch today.

However we  have got a picture  of the P-47 having engine  runs

  • Another March update

A busy week with Hawk engine runs  yesterday and now Wildcat being weighed.

Else where in the hangar work has commenced on the Mk XIV annual checks:

  • March update

Well you spend a few weeks planning something for the website and then the weather doesn’t play ball. We promised something for today so please watch the video for an update on aeroplanes and news about our brand new Friends of TFC clothing – more on this later.

We are also glad to say our latest Fighter Log has escaped to the Post Office along with our 2013 calendar – so if you are bored with that existing calendar on your wall now is the ideal time to change!
